Prepare for your ADI Standards Check or PDI Part 3

Prepare for the 17 Standards Check competencies

Our workshop book takes you through all 17 competencies assessed during an ADI Standards Check and what is expected of you. It is designed for instructors with an upcoming check as well as those who received a low grade or failed.

A route back after a PDI Part 3 result

Candidates have three attempts at the Part 3 assessment. After a third unsuccessful attempt, they must wait two years from passing Part 1 before taking the assessments again. An initial assessment identifies where you can improve, including lesson planning, risk management and instructional skills.

How recovery coaching is planned

We first review your Standards Check report, then assess you delivering a lesson in an in-car scenario to understand the reasons behind the result. Follow-up can be one-to-one training or monitoring while you teach your own pupils.

Common questions

What should I bring to an initial review?

Please bring your most recent Standards Check report. It is the starting point for your recovery plan.

Can training be observed during my own lessons?

Yes. The programme can include monitoring lessons while you teach your own pupils.
