Plan a focused course of driving lessons

Build a lesson timetable around your starting point.

An intensive course is planned after we review your driving experience, theory test status and an initial assessment. The hour ranges below are a guide, not a promise of a test result.

Use experience to estimate the lesson hours

As a guide: around 40 hours for someone with no experience, 30–40 hours for very basic knowledge, 20–30 hours for a novice, and 10–20 hours for a skilled driver with a test booked. You may need additional tuition to become test-ready.

Assessed intensive lesson plan

Your course hours are set after an initial assessment, based on your experience and a passed theory test.

Common questions

Do I need to pass the theory test first?

Yes. A valid, passed theory test is part of planning an intensive course.

Are the course-hour estimates a guarantee?

No. These ranges are planning estimates, and you may need extra lessons before you are ready for a test.

How often should lessons take place?

We recommend three to four lessons per week, with each lesson lasting two to three hours, for maximum learning.
